Everest Base Camp Trek 15 Days

Overview

Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the highest altitudes to give with the nature, the Sherpa people and the Buddhist culture along with the Everest Base Camp (5364 m) in Nepal Himalaya. The walk will pass through the traditional-way-of-living mountaintops villages in the Khumbu, the ancient monasteries, the suspension bridges and the glacial Valleys all nestled by a part of the world's highest peaks.

Firstly the trek includes arrival in Kathmandu and then a flight to Lukla (2,860 m), the base to tour the Everest region from. The trail passes through forest, suspension bridges and villages of the traditional Sherpa homesteaders up to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) from Lukla. Namche, our first acclimatizing day and is the main trading and cultural center of the Khumbu region.

The trail then passes through the villages of Kyangjuma, Sanasa, Phunki Temba and Tengboche where the famous monastery of Tengboche (3860 m) is located. There are surrounding summits of mountain like Ama dahlam, Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse.

After Deboche and Pangboche on the next pass through you will reach Dingboche (4410m) another acclimatisation day to get you to the new elevations. A hike toward Nangkartshang Peak (around 5,083–5,100 m) provides panoramic views of Mount Everest (8,849 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m), Cho Oyu (8,188 m), Ama Dablam (6,812 m) and other Himalayan peaks.

It is more mountainous towards the left of Dingboche as the trail crosses over the Dukla pass and Thukla pass where the Thukla Pass memorial is dedicated to the Dead amidst the climbers and mountaineers of the Everest region. This is along the Khumbu Glacier towards Lobuche (around 4900m).

The adventure begins with a trek from Lobuche, to Gorakshep and to Everest Base Camp. The walk from Gorakshep to Everest base camp (5364m) is through an amazing scene dominated by the Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall. Base Camp in foothills of the mountains of Himalayas like Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse, Lingtren and Changtse et al. can be seen from the peaks of the neighboring mountains. In the spring climbing season climbers can also see expeditions in Base Camp.

The highest point of this trek is called Kala Patthar (5,545m). It offers some prime and close up views of Mount Everest and other neighboring peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Changtse, Ama Dablam and other peaks, in the form of panorama view. The walk will traverse through these view points of the mountains then descend to Gorakshep, Lobuche & Thukla and Pheriche.

Return trek is the same trek as it was to Pangboche, and then on to Tengboche, Phunki-Tenga and then back to Namche Bazaar. The trail out of Namche then heads back through Monjo, Phakding and then Lukla. It is possible to fly at Lukla and then fly back to Kathmandu.

The Himalayas of the Everest region is also diverse in terms of its bioviority. The lower parts of the trail are forested with rhododendron, birch, conifer and pine and higher areas are in alpine terrain and glacial areas. It is also a habitat for various kinds of wildlife like the Himalayan tahr, musk deer, danphe (Himalayan monal), snow pigeon etc. amongst various high altitude birds. It is a trek up the mountain on natural trails passing through the unique mountain ecosystem Sagarmatha National Park.

It is a natural journey as well as an introduction to the culture of Buddhism and Sherpa to all. The mountains offer the experience of hospitality that you all are known for, and songs of prayer in Buddhist flags, the creation of a Mani wall, and encounters with monasteries make for a spiritual trip as you enter the traditional villages of mountain people – such as Namce Bazaar, Khumjung, Pangboche, Tengboche, Dingboche, Pheriche etc – where you can experience the true living standards of theis people.
