Mardi Himal is a 5,587 m peak located in Nepal's Annapurna region has its basecamp known as Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek which is a very famous and popular trekking route in Nepal which can be done around 5-7 days. This trek provides unforgettable experiences of Himalayan scenery, peaceful forests with colorful rhododendron and oak , breathtaking panoramic views of mountain peaks and many more views.The route passes through traditional Gurung village, terrace rice field and millet farms. The forest is covered with different red, pink and white colored rhododendrons in April whereas in spring ,flowers like Rhododendrons, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Wild Orchids and Anemones are observed. You will enjoy the beautiful views of mountain peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli Himal, Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu. The journey of your trekking starts from Kathmandu by private vehicle. The road beside Trishuli and Marsyangdi river has terraced farms on the lap of the greenery hills like Chandragiri hills, Kurintar and Mahabharat range. After reaching Pokhara passing through Naubise, Mugling and Dhumre following Marsyangdi and Seti River, you drive towards Kande from where the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek starts.

From Kande, the route ascends along well-built stone steps through forests and farmland to Australian Camp(2,060 m) which is the best viewpoint of panoramic views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal on clear days.The trek continues to Pothana (1,950 m) which passes through rhododendron and oak forests where a charming Gurung village is located within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Along the trek you will enjoy beautiful forest landscapes, colorful wildflowers in springs like Rhododendrons, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Wild Orchids and Anemones . From Deurali (2,100 m), the magnificent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli are experienced.

After leaving Deurali, again the trek starts entering into a dense forest of rhododendron, oak, maple, and hemlock forests. The narrow forest road is covered with moss and ferns and you will hear the sounds of birds and mountain streams flowing. In the clear weather, the beautiful views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli appeared. Shortly, you will have arrived at Forest Camp called Kokar. 

Moving ahead, you experience beautiful panoramic views of mountains that look more clear. You visit the various places like Rescue Camp, Rest Camp and Low Camp before reaching Badal Danda. Badal Danda means the “Cloud Hill” where you feel you are above the cloud which gives the unforgettable memories of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek.

You experience magnificent views of Himalayan peaks like Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal. You stay overnight here in Mardi Himal Base Camp and prepare for an early morning view of the rising sun coming out from the mountain peaks with golden light.

After a short hike you reach Mardi Himal Viewpoints which is approximately 4,700 m high from sea level early in the morning to enjoy the rising sun from the peak of the mountains. The views of mountain peaks like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli and Gangapurna are seen.After enjoying a short time with views and some memorable photography, you forward your trek towards Low Camp.

The famous stop of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is Siding village. Your vehicle is waiting for you here to drive to Pokhara.The Mardi Himal Base Camp trek ends here.

Itinerary

Day 01 : Drive and Trek from Pokhara(822 m) to Deurali (2,100 m), 5-6 hours.
Elevation: 2,100 mm Duration: 6.0 hrs

Distance: 10 km / 6.2 miles Drive : Pokhara to Kande,1 hour Trek : Kande to Australian Camp and then Pothana to Deurali,5-6 hours The trek of Mardi Himal Base Camp starts with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande which takes about 1 hour. The road winds through terraced hillslides and glimpses of Annapurna mountain range. From Kande, the route ascends along well-built stone steps through forests and farmland to Australian Camp(2,060 m) which is the best viewpoint of panoramic views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal on clear days. The trek continues to Pothana (1,950 m) which passes through rhododendron and oak forests which is charming Gurung village located within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Day 02 : Trek to Forest Camp(2,550 m), 4-5 hours.
Elevation: 2,550 mm Duration: 5.0 hrs

Distance: 7 km /4.3 miles After leaving Deurali, the route passes through a dense forest of rhododendron, oak, maple, and hemlock forests. The narrow forest road is covered with moss and ferns and you will hear the sounds of birds and mountain streams flowing. You will also have an excellent view of Machhapuchhre that comes up above the trees tops of the forest. At times when the weather is clear, you will get experience of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The forest in this area is covered with various red, pink and white colored rhododendrons that give the best photographic experience in April. Shortly, you will have arrived at Forest Camp called Kokar. You stay overnight in Forest Camp and enjoy the local food Daal-bhat and locally grown greens.

Day 03 : Trek to Badal Danda (3, 250m), 5-6 hours.
Elevation: 3, 250mm Duration: 6.0 hrs

Distance: 8 km/5 miles When you trek ahead,you will walk uphill through quiet rhododendron forests. After about an hour, you reach Lovely Hill locally known as Gauda. You experience beautiful panoramic views of mountains that look more clear. The route passes through various places like Rescue Camp, Rest Camp and Low Camp before you reach Badal Danda. Badal Danda means the Cloud Hill where you feel you are above the cloud which gives the unforgettable memories of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek.You stay overnight at Badal Danda and enjoy local food like Thukpa,Tibetan Bread and Garlic Soup.

Day 04 : Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m), 3-4 hours.
Elevation: 4,500 mm Duration: 4.0 hrs

Distance: 8 km/ 5 miles Early in the morning you start trekking through the High Camp which is surrounded by magnificent Himalayan peaks like Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal. You will enjoy local food like Daal-bhat, Thukpa and Garlic soup in High Camp. You stay overnight here and prepare for an early morning view of the rising sun coming out from the mountain peaks with golden light. The Mardi Himal Base Camp is surrounded by high mountains like Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu.

Day 05 : Trek to Viewpoint (4,700 m) and then to Low Camp (2,970 m), 7–8 hours.
Elevation: 4,700 mm Duration: 8.0 hrs

Distance: 15 km / 9.3 miles As you prepare for the short hike to Mardi Himal Viewpoints which is approximately 4,700 m high from sea level early in the morning to enjoy the rising sun from the peak of the mountains. The first rays of the sun lying on the surface of the mountains turns the white snow into a golden color that gives unforgettable memories of the trek. You will enjoy the closeup views of mountain peaks like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli and Gangapurna.After enjoying short time with views and some memorable photography, you forward your trek towards Low Camp. Following the same route, High Camp and Badal Danda, you reach Low Camp (2,970 m) by late afternoon.You stay overnight here and relax the atmosphere to unwind after a long day of trekking.

Day 06 : Trek to Siding Village (1,750 m) and then drive to Pokhara (822 m), 5-6 hours.
Elevation: 1,750 mm Duration: 6.0 hrs

Distance: 6 km/ 3.7 miles Drive: Siding to Pokhara | 2–3 hours Your trekking journey starts towards the Siding Village which is the famous stop of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. Most of the route is downhills passing through forests, terraced rice fields, millate farms and traditional Gurung villages. Your vehicle will be waiting for you here for a scenic drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is the most beautiful and popular tourist destination of Nepal. You get boat rides to reach the temple Taal Barahi, situated on the small island in the middle of Phewa Lake which is surrounded by the green hills. After Phewa Lake, you can enjoy unique views of the waterfall called Devis falls which disappeared into the underground tunnel. Besides this, you see Guptoshwor Cave which is the sacred cave of Lord Shiva. Then after a short drive you to the World Peace Pagoda from where you see a beautiful view of Phewa Lake, Pokhara city, Annapurna Massif and Machhapuchhe Himal.Pokhara is also known as an adventure destination, offering activities such as paragliding, zip-lining, boating, mountain biking, hiking, and ultralight flights over the Himalayas.
